Save, Restore and Grow Newberry!
To restore hope for our future locally, as we grow new regional options, we plan to facilitate Economic Development Strategies, and Inovative Funding Partnerships.
In Addition, we wish to implement an outreach and marketing campaign to others, using our "how to" book for and about rural communities taking action; "How to Survive a Political Tsunami - In Rural America".

Below and throughout this website you will find the archives of our battle to save our prison. We will be keeping the website "as is" until we have established funding for our new book that will help communities across the nation.

Newberry Correctional Facility - A True Success In Saving the State of Michigan Money In The Future!
Statistics and reports conclude that prisoners improve their capabilities for employment after being released from facilities with a successful educational program.
The following quotes are from the >>Journal of Correctional Education, Dec 2005 - "Educated Prisoners Are Less Likely to Return to Prison" - by Vacca, James
"Studies in several states have indicated that recidivism rates have declined where inmates have received an appropriate education. Furthermore, the right kind of educational program leads to less violence by inmates involved in the programs and a more positive prison environment."
"Clark found that inmates who earned a diploma returned to prison custody at a significantly lower rate (26.4%) than those inmates who did not earn a degree (44.6%)."
